It’s Memorial Day weekend in Madison, a time to hope mother nature finally comes around and grants us the warmer weather we’ve been longing for, a time to overdo it on brats, and a time to give thanks for those soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice so that we may enjoy our freedom. No matter your taste or your leaning, there’s a brat for you -The World’s Largest Brat Fest is the big event at Willow Island (Alliant Energy Center) where they’ll try to break the record of 209,376 brats consumed between today and Monday. -The People’s Brat Fest doesn’t offer any granola, but you can find veggie (and meat) brats on Library Mall Saturday from 10 am – 7 pm. -Wurst Times runs from 11 am -8 pm Sunday at the High Noon Saloon where you can eat more brats, get your boogie on and feel good about supporting local music. Speaking of music, DJs Dirty Needles and Dusty Grooves will be out at the Jade Monkey that night mixing 80s tunes from 9 til bar time. The patio is open, the drink menu is extensive, and it’s the kind of place where you can relax, or bust into dance spontaneously. Come on out and request some New Wave! Monday we observe Memorial Day, and whether you make it to the Monona parade or not, be sure to take a moment amid your holiday to reflect a moment for those we lost to make it possible. Spider bites

really suck. Some can prove fatal and some can be even worse – causing necrotizing fasciitis! Necrotizing fasciitis is commonly known as the flesh-eating disease and it’s no joke! Legendary axe man Jeff Hanneman suffered from it and despite years of skin grafts and painful surgeries he never truly regained the abilities he developed over the years. Unfortunately, Jeff is no longer with us, but we can learn from the spider bite that caused his demise. The facts are indisputable, if you have hair in your eyes, you’re much less likely to see that spider coming. In person, I don't take compliments well, but when someone compliments me about my writing, I do gloat a little on the inside. Unfortunately, the ad that generated this one has expired so I can't add it to the blog. In a nutshell, I suggested that if you're going to San Francisco, be sure to wear some flowers in your hair, but if you're going out in Madison, some highlights would look nice. I attached a copy of a picture of Scott McKenzie at the bottom of the ad and received this compliment from Greg: OK, Chris, I’m old enough to remember this when it was a fresh, new hit. Very good FSTB post. I think I’ll pass on the highlights, though. It made me check out Scott McKenzie’s Wikipedia page. Interesting, as most of them are. I never thought I would create this blog, but I've been getting some great feedback at work, and a co-worker suggested I start one to track these ads. The idea was simple. Here at TDS, we have an outlook folder titled For Sale/To Buy. Most folks post their old DVDs, clothes the kids have outgrown or items they're looking for like tickets to the Badgers game. It's free to use so I thought I would help Alyssa as she transitioned over to Rock N Glam Salon. So far my ads haven't generated much business, but I hope that comes in time. People are noticing the ads and commenting to me, so perhaps we're building a brand slowly. Who knows, if all goes well, maybe I can get Double A to take me out for dinner sometime!
